The first quadrennial Judicial Compensation and Benefits
Commission was appointed in September 1999,
pursuant to the Judges Act. Its mandate was to review and
make recommendations to the Minister of Justice with regard to the
compensation and benefits of federally appointed judges. The second
quadrennial Commission was appointed in 2003. The third Commission was established on October 5th, 2007 to review judicial compensation and examine other outstanding issues. New Commissioners, appointed for four years, are
Mrs. Sheila Block (Chair), Mr. Paul Tellier and Mr. Wayne McCutcheon.
